Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.</div>ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY SPECIALIST  As part of the SpaceX Environmental Health & Safety team, you will play a pivotal role in providing technical EHS support to a wide array of launch vehicle manufacturing teams. As a tactical extension of the EHS engineering team, you will serve to reinforce safe work and work conditions for our most valuable assets, our employees.  RESPONSIBILITIES:  <ul> <li data-aria-posinset="1" data-aria-level="2">Perform comprehensive reviews of manufacturing and test procedures and draft job hazard assessments (JHAs) to define hazard controls prior to work execution </li> <li data-aria-posinset="2" data-aria-level="2">Establish preventative maintenance procedures for safety-critical equipment including air monitoring devices, fall protection, respirators and more </li> <li data-aria-posinset="3" data-aria-level="2">Calibrate and service a wide array of EHS instrumentation </li> <li data-aria-posinset="4" data-aria-level="2">Maintain records for industrial hygiene studies/remediation sampling, employee training, and work permits </li> <li data-aria-posinset="5" data-aria-level="2">Qualify PPE requirements through in-depth hazard analysis and review of consensus agency standards (NIOSH/ANSI etc.)  </li> <li data-aria-posinset="6" data-aria-level="2">Functional testing of active and passive machine guarding devices in a wide array of applications </li> <li data-aria-posinset="7" data-aria-level="2">Perform safety inspections and address deficiencies to mitigate risk </li> <li data-aria-posinset="8" data-aria-level="2">Conduct incident investigations and provide recommendation for corrective action </li> <li data-aria-posinset="9" data-aria-level="2">Play an active role in emergency response planning </li> <li data-aria-posinset="10" data-aria-level="2">Facilitate employee classroom safety trainings and curate relevant course content catered the teams you are supporting </li> <li data-aria-posinset="11" data-aria-level="2">Review lockout/tagout procedures for complex work cells and industrial machinery </li> <li data-aria-posinset="12" data-aria-level="2">Monitor safety equipment inventories to ensure supplies such as PPE are readily available for employees </li> <li data-aria-posinset="13" data-aria-level="2">Provide supplemental environmental compliance support as required by Environmental Engineering </li> </ul> BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:  <ul> <li data-aria-posinset="1" data-aria-level="2">Bachelor’s degree; OR High school diploma, or equivalency certificate, with 4+ years of experience implementing and overseeing environmental, health and safety programs </li> </ul> PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:  <ul> <li data-aria-posinset="1" data-aria-level="2">A dedication to the mission of making humanity multiplanetary </li> <li data-aria-posinset="2" data-aria-level="2">A sense of curiosity for how things work </li> <li data-aria-posinset="3" data-aria-level="2">Mechanically inclined and capable of comprehending basic principles of modern machinery </li> <li data-aria-posinset="4" data-aria-level="2">High level of emotional intelligence and ability to adapt communication styles with all levels of the company </li> <li data-aria-posinset="5" data-aria-level="2">Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) </li> <li data-aria-posinset="6" data-aria-level="2">Ability to accept constructive criticism and quickly course correct </li> <li data-aria-posinset="7" data-aria-level="2">Thrives in a fast-paced environment </li> <li data-aria-posinset="8" data-aria-level="2">Proven track record of strong organizational skills and multi-tasking capabilities </li> <li data-aria-posinset="9" data-aria-level="2">BCSP certification (ASP, CSP, SMS, OHST etc.) </li> </ul> ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  <ul> <li data-aria-posinset="2" data-aria-level="2">Ability lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted </li> <li data-aria-posinset="4" data-aria-level="2">Willingness to work extended hours when needed to meet critical deadlines </li> <li data-aria-posinset="5" data-aria-level="2">Ability to pass relevant USCG examinations, federal facility background checks, re-certifications, and chemical testing </li> <li data-aria-posinset="6" data-aria-level="2">Position is subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing </li> </ul> COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:  Pay range: Environmental Health & Safety Specialist/Level I: $33.00 – 39.00/per hour Environmental Health & Safety Specialist/Level II: $37.00 – 44.00/per hour Environmental Health & Safety Specialist/Level III: $41.00 – 50.00/per hour Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
