The team is heavily involved in utilizing computer vision, perception, electro-optical, infrared, and sensor data to give our war fighters and allies an advantage.  <h3>ABOUT THE JOB:  </h3> We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team, focusing on the design and development of Space-Based advanced complex electro-mechanical and structural and electronics packing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, development, analysis, and manufacturing tasks on complex mechanical hardware including precision space structures and mechanisms in a program team environment.  <h4>WHAT YOU'LL DO </h4> <ul> <li>Develop Space-Based cutting-edge infrared sensors. </li> <li>Design high-precision and complex space opto-mechanical</li> <li>Develop and perform testing to show proof-of-design and/or qualification of new designs.</li> <li>Utilize first principles physics as a basis for all decisions. </li> <li>Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into production. </li> <li>Support critical hardware demonstrations with customers as needed. </li> <li>Execute in-depth and rigorous opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical designs. </li> </ul> REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS  <ul> <li>Bachelor's in mechanical engineering (BSME), or MS with 5 plus years of experience in design, hardware, or integrated product development and testing, and excellent leadership/communication </li> <li>Prior or current experience with spaceflight imaging applications, especially related to optical systems</li> <li>Proficiency in various CAD tools and openness to using new software, with the ability to create high-quality engineering drawings that meet industry standards. </li> <li>Strong skills in material selection, finishing, component sizing, system design, and troubleshooting. </li> <li>Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills. </li> <li>Demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills. </li> <li>Ability to integrate electronic components into mechanical designs (motors, controllers, sensors, etc.). </li> <li>Experience with machining and fabrication processes, sheet metal, injection molding, and 3D printing. </li> <li>Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5 GD&T) and regulatory requirements. </li> <li>Ability to drive projects from concept to completion </li> <li>Excellent written and verbal skills for documentation, presentations, and collaboration. </li> <li>Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance </li> </ul> PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  <ul> <li>Experience with complex optical system design, analysis, testing, and implementation. </li> <li>Experience in working with engineering teams from conceptual through detailed design phases</li> <li>Experience in design of space-based mechanical structures, mechanisms, and electronics packaging along with engineering drawing development.</li> <li>Proficiency in tolerance stack-up analysis for mechanical designs as well as GD&T</li> <li>Experience with thermal management. </li> <li>Preference for Siemens NX & Teamcenter experience. </li> <li>Working knowledge of DFMA. </li> </ul><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="title">US Salary Range</div><div class="pay-range">$111,000—$147,000 USD</div></div></div><div class="content-conclusion">The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
