About the Role
Who we are
Helsing is a defence AI company. Our mission is to protect our democracies. We aim to achieve technological leadership, so that open societies can continue to make sovereign decisions and control their ethical standards.
As democracies, we believe we have a special responsibility to be thoughtful about the development and deployment of powerful technologies like AI. We take this responsibility seriously.
We are an ambitious and committed team of engineers, AI specialists and customer-facing programme managers. We are looking for mission-driven people to join our European teams – and apply their skills to solve the most complex and impactful problems. We embrace an open and transparent culture that welcomes healthy debates on the use of technology in defence, its benefits, and its ethical implications.
The role
Few designers see their work travel on an aircraft, a submarine or an autonomous system in flight. You will. As Senior Product Graphic Designer in Munich, you shape what makes a Helsing system recognisable at a glance and obvious to use: its livery, its surface identifiers and the indication functions that tell an operator what the machine is doing. You bring those ideas to life in motion, in 3D and in the hand, and you shape the wider experience around the product with our brand team, from the case it arrives in to the manual beside it. The result is one Helsing signature, carried across every system we field.
The day-to-day
-
Give our hardware its face, designing liveries, decals and surface identifiers, and releasing 2D artwork mapped onto complex 3D geometry that survives real tooling, paint and finishing
-
Design indication functions that operators read instantly, using light, mark and layout to show state, sensing and autonomy, validating each solution with crews before it reaches production
-
Prototype hardware behaviour in After Effects, Figma and 3D visualisation, and build the films and demonstrations that let colleagues and customers feel a system before it exists
-
Extend Helsing's identity into packaging, deployment cases, kits, manuals and quick-start guides with our brand team, so every touchpoint feels part of one whole
-
Produce presentation kits, pitch decks and marketing material with the wider marketing and communications team, using 2D graphics, 3D visuals and animation to make complex capability clear to a broad audience
You should apply if you
-
Have put graphic design work onto manufactured hardware in aerospace, robotics, automotive, mobility or deep-tech products, and understand what happens to your artwork downstream
-
Design for use as well as beauty, applying human-machine interface and ergonomics thinking so every mark helps someone act quickly and safely
-
Create motion and interactive prototypes in Adobe After Effects and Figma, and use them to test ideas rather than only to present them
-
Produce editorial and information design of real craft, from technical manuals and infographics to keynote material
-
Map graphics onto complex surfaces in tools such as KeyShot, Blender, Alias or Rhino, alongside fluency in Adobe Creative Suite
Note: We operate in an industry where women, as well as other minority groups, are systematically under-represented. We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet all the listed qualifications; ability and impact cannot be summarised in a few bullet points.
Nice to Have
