About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Decision Science Analyst who is eager to revolutionize Car insurance with us. You'll be joining a critical team focused on the future of our Car product.

This is a chance to build advanced pricing models, loss reserving & tools, while modernizing our analytics discipline across all facets of Lemonade—from distribution to underwriting, claims, compliance, and finance. You’ll leverage competitive data and data science to optimize our customers’ experience and ensure fairness and accuracy in pricing, directly impacting the success and growth of our newest business line.

We believe three things matter for every role at Lemonade: drive to push through challenges, efficiency that keeps standards high while moving fast, and adaptability that lets you pivot with data and AI insights. These aren't buzzwords, they're how we actually work.

Our AI-first approach isn't just a tagline either. We're building the future of insurance with AI at the center, and we need people who are genuinely excited to learn and grow alongside these tools.

IN THIS ROLE YOU’LL

  • Develop new innovative car products to meet the needs of new emerging customer segments, including connected, autonomously driven cars

  • Be a key contributor to our car insurance state rating plans and filing support

  • Help develop and integrate predictive modeling projects while working closely with the Data Science and Insurance teams

  • Craft rate filing support for new modeling techniques

  • Recommend pricing and underwriting actions based on ongoing monitoring of results

  • Develop the rates for product expansions in new states or new insurance products

  • Assist in the design of internal pricing software for advanced analytics to support real-time decision making and scalable growth

  • Achieve success by seeing your models and rate changes implemented directly into production, leading to measurable improvements in loss ratio and customer experience

  • Grow your expertise by getting hands-on with bleeding-edge technologies and collaborating directly with our Data Scientists and Product teams on cross-functional initiatives

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • 4+ years of statistical modeling experience

  • Previous or current experience at a P&C insurance carrier required

  • Proficiency in data science programming languages such as Python (ability to write basic code) required, and database query tools such as SQL

  • Experience developing and implementing predictive models using both supervised and unsupervised machine learning approaches such as GLM, decision tree, and gradient boosting machines

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field

  • Ability to work in a remote environment

  • Enthusiasm about learning and adapting to the exciting world of AI – a commitment to exploring this field is a fundamental part of our culture
